OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE

The objective of Part I of this manual (in conjunction with the UAT SARPs of Annex 10, Volume III) is to define internationally agreed detailed technical specifications for the UAT system that accomplish the following:

establish a basis for RF compatibility of UAT with other systems operating in the 960 MHz to 1 215 MHz frequency band (ACAS, DME, SSR, TACAN, JTIDS/MIDS and GNSS E5/L5);

establish a common basis for UAT inter-system interoperability across implementations manufactured and certified in different regions of the world. This manual alone is not considered adequate for manufacture or certification of UAT equipment and is not a replacement for local certification guidance.
