The interface specified in this standard is primarily intended to carry monophonic or stereophonic programmes at a 48 kHz sampling frequency and with a resolution of up to 24 bits per sample. It may alternatively be used to carry signals sampled at other rates such as 32 kHz, 44,1 kHz, or 96 kHz. This consolidated version consists of the second edition (2003) and its amendment 1 (2008). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.
