This standard specifies the Station Management (SMT) for the Fiber Distributed Data interface (FDDI) and provides the SMT which is a subset of the Network Management necessary to Allow stations on an FDDI ring to work cooperatively on the network. Primary responsibilities of the SMT will be connection management including including error detection and station isolation, configuration partitioning, communications protocol for external Authority, schelduling policies, address administration, downline load and upline dump requirements.
