This standard provides general requirements for the development of specifications for piston-type, linear pneumatic valve actuators for on/off applications, which henceforth shall simply be referred to as linear pneumatic actuator(s) in this document.

This standard applies to:

• Actuators designed for automating rising stem type valves (i.e. , gate, globe, etc.).

• Actuators powered by a dry, gaseous supply medium of up to 174 psig (12 barg).

• The elements required to affix the linear pneumatic actuator to the valve.

• Actuators for linear pneumatic piston actuators of the single- and double-acting types used for on-off applications only.

• This standard does not address the specification of actuator accessories and damper drives.
