This Recommendation describes the characteristics of various digital terrestrial sound broadcasting systems currently in use, in the LF, MF and HF bands and encourages radio receiver manufacturers to develop portable, multiband, multi-standard digital radio receivers designed to receive emissions not only in the medium and short-wave bands but also in other bands intended for direct reception of sound broadcasts by the general public.
