This Recommendation prescribes a method allowing HDTV producers or broadcasters to establish a reference viewing condition for evaluation of HDTV program material or completed programmes that can provide repeatable results from one facility to another when viewing the same material. This includes the display device and the surrounding environment.¹

¹ High quality, critical viewing facilities can and will continue to be established in many ways by entities involved in editing, colour correction, screening and the like, and this Recommendation is not intended to suggest a need for absolute uniformity in such facilities.
