This standard prescribes the requirements1) and evaluation methods2) used to calculate the target road load for variation model vehicles3) using a chassis dynamometer for four-wheel drive vehicle4) and chassis dynamometer for tyre unit5) when performing fuel consumption testing of automobiles with a vehicle mass of 3,500 kg or less.

Note: 1) Requirements such as the definition of variation model vehicles, chassis dynamometer specifications and accuracy, as well as correction methods

Note: 2) Performance evaluation methods of chassis dynamometers for four-wheel drive vehicle and chassis dynamometers for tyre unit

Note: 3) Vehicles where the difference in aerodynamic drag compared to the base model vehicle is negligible

Note: 4) This is a chassis dynamometer that has a single-axis roller in front and one in back, and can simultaneously rotate all wheels for 2- and 4-wheel drive vehicles without requiring vehicle modifications.

Note: 5) This is a chassis dynamometer for tyre unit that has a single-axis roller and is capable of coastdown tests.
