The system of supporting large span roofs using high strength steel cables had been adopted since the 1950s and was well developed by the 1970s when the original edition of Cable Suspended Roofs, authored by Prem Krishna, was published in 1978. The intervening 35 years witnessed the gradual evolution of cable roof structures with exquisite aesthetic appearance, and a wide range of spans and applications.
