This specification relates to dyestuffs for use, normally in concentrations of not more than 1 per cent, in varnishes or lacquers, in circumstances where compatability with explosives is important and the dried coating is not subjected to long term direct outdoor exposure.

Particulars (including proportions) of the dyestuff (or dyestuffs) to be used in a particular varnish or lacquer are to be found in the specification for the varnish or lacquer, together with such restrictions on their use as may need to be imposed by virtue of certain incompatibilities with named explosives.
