This specification deíìnes the requirements for the manufacture and inspection of aluminium pressure die castings for Service use. Castings made by low pressure methods (e.g, of the order of 5-10 lbf/in2} are not appropriate to this specification.
It includes a castings classification scheme for design use. The system is intended to assist the manufacturer and Inspection Authority by providing an indication of conditions of service and of the level of inspection to be applied.
Details of recommended alloys are given in Appendix A.
Die castings using materials to British Standard Aircraft or DTD specifications are subject to the Inspection requirements of BS L 101.
