Def Stan 00-250: 2008 Part 0 provides an introduction and overview of Human Factors Integration in the MoD acquisition processes and Defences capability development. Definitions of the terms "Human Factors" and "Human Factors Integration" are provided to aid understanding. The role of Human Factors Integration in Through-Life Capability Management is explained.
The majority of the document is intended to support understanding of the importance of a systematic approach to Human Factors, as part of an overall systematic approach to system design. Relationships with the MoD Architectural Framework (MODAF) approach are discussed.
Further sections consider the overall HFI process, HFI activity planning and Early Human Factors activities.
A significant part of the text is concerned with formal People-Related Requirements capture and management – an area that is increasingly seen as the key to satisfactory Human Factors Integration.
Remaining sections present an overview of the work system design process, including allocation of functions, identification of system requirements, design of work equipment and working environments.
