This chapter states the design requirements for the installation of armament equipment in all aeroplanes. Armament Equipment, for the purpose of these requirements , comprises the weapon installations, associated armament equipment and electrical circuits concerned with monitoring, control, and release or firing of all stores using armament release equipment. Paras 9.9.3 and 13.1 refer to the relationship between the armament installation and Nav/ Attack system. There are additional specific requirements for gun installations and these are given in Chapter 710.

All proposed aeroplane weapon systems shall be approved by D.A.Arm MOD (PE) or the appropriate weapon system approving authority.

When weapon recording camers, tone control and training aids are incorporated in the design of armament installations, there shall be no degradation of safety and reliability of the armament systems.
