British Defence Standards
This Defence Standard provides users with solutions to the goals and requirements for Certification of the Ship Stability Hazard Area as defined by DSA03-DMR – Naval Authority Rules for Certification of MoD Shipping.
This Defence Standard sets out the minimum acceptable standards of stability and subdivision which must be applied to the design of naval surface ships, where stipulated in the Certification Strategy, and which must be adhered to during service. The layout of the Standard aligns with ANEP-77 Naval Ship Code (NShipC) and provides additional UK Ministry of Defence requirements to the application of NShipC Part 2 Regulations 2, 3 (Solution 2), 4 (Solution 2), 6, 7 & 8.
MAP 01-140 Guide to DSA03-DMR: Naval Authority (NA) Rules for Certification of MoD Shipping contains the requirements for evidence of compliance, Naval Authority appraisal of the design and material state. When applying the requirements of this Standard reference is to be made to MAP 01-024 Stability of Surface Ships which supports the implementation and maintenance of stability and watertight integrity policy and procedures for design and support authorities.
The ship is required to be designed & constructed to a recognised Classification Society Naval Ship Rules or equivalent.
The MOD Platform Authority shall be advised where a design to the requirements of this Standard may result in an adverse impact on the environment.
