This Defence Standard (DEF STAN) specifies the requirements to be met by shipbuilders and equipment suppliers during the selection, manufacture and shore testing of items of catering equipment, and is applicable to HM Surface Ships and Submarines.
Selection procedures are defined in this Standard to aid shipbuilders and equipment suppliers.
A set of Equipment Definition Sheets is contained at Annex D. Each sheet contains the broad requirements for specific items of catering equipment.
Original design and development of free-standing catering equipment is not normally sponsored by MOD. The procedure for this practice is not included in this Standard.
