This Standard outlines the processes and measures which shall be adopted to ensure that the design intent is defined and being maintained, that risks to Safety in Submarines are ALARP throughout the CADMID cycle; that objective evidence is delivered to assure Duty Holders and Regulatory Authorities, and to ensure robust management arrangements are in place.

The output from this Standard shall be consistent with the requirements of JSPs 430, 518, 520 and 538 the submarine Class Safety Case, and shall form an intrinsic part of the Duty Holders decision to authorise operation.
