This Part of the Defence Standard (DEF STAN) specifies the requirements for the design, installation and acceptance testing of Bromochlorodifluoromethane (BCF) (Halon 1211) fixed firefighting systems in HM Surface Ships.
The systems specified comply with the minimum requirements of BS 5306 Part 5 and are for fighting fires in the machinery spaces and compartments of major warships of frigate size and larger.
