This NES specified the through life cleaning processes to 'Oxygen Clean' standard of Liquid Oxygen (LOX) plant equipment, components, pipework and support systems.

This NES also specifies:

'Oxygen Clean' standard and contamination test procedures for LOX plant equipment, components, pipework and support systems;

Preservation, packaging and storage of 'Oxygen Clean' LOX plant equipment, components, pipework and support systems;

Storage and handling of solvents specified for cleaning processes;

Responsibilities of management and operators for safety when engaged in cleaning processes.

This NES is applicable to manufacture, build, storage, transit, installation, operational maintenance and refit of LOX plants whether at MOD(PE) contractors, in Surface Ships or at RN Shore Establishments and Dockyards.

This NES is not applicable to HP and LP electrolyser systems. This information is contained in NES 372 Part 1 and Part 2 respectively.
