This NES covers the manufacture supply and testing requirements of radio frequency cables, for cable types not included in DEF STAN 61-12 (Part 9), where usage is specific to Surface Ships and Submarines.
This NES outlines the characteristics of co-axial cables insulated and sheathed with a range of materials, including limited fire hazard, and invokes BS 2316 Parts 1 & 2 detailing additional requirements and tests and Ministry of Defence requirements.
Cables are required to withstand the conditions of reeving, temporary support and glanding into equipment and through bulkheads, that are accepted practices in the shipbuilding and ship refitting industry.
