This NES covers the construction, identification and testing requirements of thin-wall insulated cables with conductor areas up to 2.5mm², for cable types not included in DEF STAN 61-12 Part 25, where usage is specific to Surface Ships and Submarines.

As the cables detailed herein use insulated cores complying with DEF STAN 61-12 Part 18 and sheathing material complying with DEF STAN 61-12 Part 31 they present a limited fire hazard, producing limited levels of noxious fumes, smoke and corrosive when burnt.
