Part 2 of this NES describes the purpose and general procedure to be adopted where a Final Electrical Inspection (FEI) is a contractual requirement in new construction submarines.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the FEI is to check by document audit, inspection and test that the submarine electrical systems and equipment have been installed and tested correctly by the Shipbuilder; to assess the standard achieved and, jointly with PNO, advise the Shipbuilder of items needing attention before Contractor's Sea Trials (CSTs) and Acceptance.

The opportunity will also be taken to consider actions to prevent shortcomings in follow-on submarines and documentation. Any such actions are to be made the subject of separate recommendations to the Shipbuilder or Design Authority, as appropriate.
