This Defence Standard (Def Stan) relates to awnings, awning curtains, ceremonial awnings and curtains, darken ship door screens, smoke screens, boat covers, boat canopies, weather screens and weather deck equipment covers for weather deck equipment as fitted in Royal Navy (RN) ships.

The allocation of the various items listed above is laid down in the relevant ship class drawings or Technical Specification for each specific ship.

This Def Stan does not include details of awning stanchions.
