This Defence Standard (Def Stan) specifies technical requirements for two types of calcium silicate products used for thermal insulation for applications on HM Ships and Submarines.

Requirements that are common to both types of calcium silicate products are described in the main part of the standard.

Requirements for chemical, physical and thermal properties of specific types of calcium silicate products traditionally used for the following applications, in accordance with Def Stan 02-703, are described in the following annexes.
