This Defence Standard (Def Stan) specifies technical requirements for cork products for thermal insulation applications on HM Ships and Submarines.

Fire characteristics and other requirements that are common to all types of cork material used on HM Ships and Submarines are described in the main part of the standard.

Requirements for physical and thermal properties of specific types of cork products traditionally used for the following applications according to Def Stan 02-703, are described in the following annexes.

• Composition cork sheet – Fire retarded for thermal insulation of ventilation and air conditioning trunking;

• Cork slabs, non-fire retarded – Thermal insulation of Structure – Submarines. General purposes – Surface Ships & Submarines.
