This Defence Standard (DEF STAN) 02-837 specifies the requirements for the manufacture, inspection, testing and supply of copper tubes that meet the requirements for phosphorus deoxidised non-arsenical copper conforming to the chemical composition of BS EN 12449:1999, Material Symbol Cu-DHP, Material Number CW024A (referred to as BS EN 12449 – CW024A throughout this standard) and does not cover any other Material Symbol or Material Number listed in BS EN 12449:1999. This standard is intended to specify the particular MoD requirements for copper pipes, selected from the range of options contained in BS EN 12449:1999. The standard also specifies the range of dimensions of tubes used for Naval applications, together with working and test pressure requirements which are summarized from BR 3013.
