This Defence Standard (Def Stan) 02-870 specifies the requirements for the reclamation of engineering components by Chromium plating in the following circumstances:
To regain dimensions in a situation where hardness testing of the Chromium deposit is not required;
To achieve wear resistance where access to the Chromium deposit for hardness testing is impracticable.
Other applications of Chromium plating are covered by BS 4641, Def Stan 03-14 and Def Stan 03- 31.
