This standard provides guidance relating to surfacing by welding and associated processes.
Arc Welding of Ferrous Armour shall be carried out in accordance with Defence Standard (Def Stan) 03-034.
Non armour ferrous material shall be arc welded to “best practice”. Guidance is given in BS EN 1011-1. Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) shall be produced and qualified in accordance with BS EN ISO 15607, BS EN ISO 15614-1, BS EN ISO 15611 or BS EN ISO 15613.
Whilst this document concentrates mainly on the surfacing of steel some guidance is given in relation to non-ferrous substrates.
Metal spray treatment of Aluminium Armour shall be carried out in accordance with Def Stan 08-039.
This guidance is not applicable to the aerospace industry.
