This Standard specifies the requirements for the electrodeposition of coatings of nickel and nickel plus chromium, primarily for protection against corrosion, on ferrous, aluminium-based, copper-based, and zinc-based materials.

This Standard does not apply to:

(a) coatings applied to machine screw threads;

(b) coatings applied to sheet, strip or wire in the unfabricated form;

(c) coatings applied for engineering purposes, for which Def Stan 03-14 and Def Stan 03-27 shall be used.

Reference to the reconmendations in Defence Guide DG-10 is advised when coatings to the requirements of this Standard are applied to metallic springs.
