This Part of the Defence Standard (Def Stan) details painting systems for application to ferrous metal, excluding armour surfaces. The conditions and requirements of Part 1 of this Def Stan shall be read with and applied to this Part of the Def Stan. The Paint Systems detailed at 4.6, 4.8 and 4.9 are given twice with variations according to the substrate concerned (non-ferrous surfaces and phosphated surfaces). To assist with identification they have been identified as A (non-ferrous) and B (phosphated).
