This Standard gives guidance for - and specifies the requirements for - the application to iron and steel components of metal flake coatings that are applied by non-electrolytic means. The main function of such coatings is for the provision of corrosion resistance to steel components but they can also contain an integral lubricant if required. The coatings specified herein are formulated so as to be free from hexavalent chromium.
