This standard sets out a standard scheme for the colour code identification of metallic materials intended for aerospace applications.

The colour codes listed in Annexes A and B are appropriate to the contents of the RAF stores vocabulary sections 30A to 30E inclusive. Codes for similar standards and alloys are included as well as codes for, principally, the AECMA aerospace aluminium alloy and steel standards and alloys which are potential replacements for the British Standards ‘L', ‘S' and ‘T' series and which are likely to be used on new designs.
