This Standard addresses the counter-surveillance requirements to be incorporated in all future land service materiel to be procured by the UK MOD.

Such equipment includes, but is not limited to:-

- Tracked armoured vehicles

- Tactical wheeled vehicles

- Special-to-Role equipments based on existing platforms

- Support equipments (generators etc)

- Engineering equipment

This Standard addresses the acoustic, visual/near infra-red, thermal/intermediate infrared and radar signature requirements for individual items of equipment. Although other signatures, such as magnetic, may also be significant, they are at present outside the scope of this Standard.

It should be noted that the manner in which equipment is deployed with other equipment during operations could also significantly affect signature. The multi-equipment context is not explicitly within the scope of this Standard but the impact of a platform having a high signature on the equipments it supports must be considered when defining requirements.
