This NES covers those aspects of ship construction and fitting that affect electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for electrical, electronic and electromechanical equipment. It describes general pre-cautions which are to be considered during the planning and installation stages of ship construction or refitting and is applicable to all surface ships and submarines.
This NES does not cover hazards resulting from electromagnetic radiation in the radio frequency band.
