Large vehicles, with limited direct and indirect vision capability, pose the greatest risk for struck, runover and crush incidents. This is reflected in the categories of land equipment to which this Defence Standard applies:

(a) Armoured Fighting Vehicles (Wheeled and Tracked)

(b) Support/Logistics Vehicles

This Defence Standard focusses on the protection of pedestrians, cyclists, dismounted troops or other Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) who may be in close proximity to these vehicles and identifies the measures that can be feasibly implemented on the different categories of Land Vehicles and groups them into the relevant Defence Code of Practice (DCOP).
