British Defence Standards
This Part of the Defence Standard describes the management and planning procedures required to satisfy the MOD requirements for the achievement of electromagnetic compatible equipments and systems. It specifically addresses the requirements for EM control plan(s), EM test plan(s) and EM test report(s). These plans should consider all Electromagnetic Environment Effects(E3) and not be limited to "traditional" EMC.
The extent of management requirements in respect of EMC largely depends on the size and complexity of the equipment involved and of the perceived EMC risk. The contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that correct EMC procedures are adopted to achieve compliance with this standard. For more complex equipment, systems and subsystems or where the EM risks are significant the contractor shall appoint an EM coordinator and it will be the Co-ordinator's responsibility to ensure the appropriate procedures are adopted to cover all the EM related requirements. In some cases, managing the EM aspects of the project may be of such complexity as to justify the establishment of an EM working group with membership from different organisations. The typical responsibilities of an EM Co-ordinator and EM working group are shown at annex A.
