This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for several types of heat shrinkable materials in the following categories:

(a) Sleeving of uniform cross section (excluding dual wall products).

(b) Sleeves for binding and/or identification purposes.

(c) Moulded shapes (excluding screened moulded shapes).

These products are used in both electrical and mechanical applications for protection from moisture, fuels, lubricants and other deleterious substances, and for binding and identification.

This Standard also details the types of bonding adhesives which are available and tests for compatibility with the various types of heat shrinkable materials.

This Standard is intended for Capability Approval and Quality Assurance, and Design Authorities should satisfy themselves that the quality defined herein, will satisfy the design requirements.
