This Standard covers the performance and technical requirements for Bourdon tube (diaphragm and capsule) operated pressure, vacuum, differential and combined (compound) gauges of square, rectangular or circular shape. Gauges with electrical contacts are also included. The Standard only applies to gauges where it is invoked on the procurement database or in a contract.

This standard seeks to provide some guidance on gauge selection and safe use. It invokes the latest British or European standards BS EN 837-1, 2 & 3 and only deviates to take account of legacy items. Materials of construction not specified by the European Gauge Standards are addressed.
