This Defence Standard specifies requirements for a type of lead stearate, Type QX, which is required to be substantially free from sodium and potassium salts, and from acetates and nitrates.

The designation ‘Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, its compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established.
