This Standard relates to two nitrile rubber-resin adhesives, of differing solids content, suitable for brush application. Grade S1 has a higher viscosity than Grade S2, and requires a longer time for complete drying. They can be used on porous or non-porous surfaces including metals and non metals, particularly where oil resistance and/or plasticizers resistance and/or high peel strength are required.

The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is of a quality suitable for application where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, the compatibility of these two adhesives with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice from the Director, Royal Armament Research and Development Establishment, Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey, Essex EN9 1AX, on particular applications.
