The tests depicted or referenced in this standard adequately simulate the environmental (climatic) and physical hazards normally expected in a packages life cycle for military usage. On occasion other tests may be required to assess suitability against further specialist criteria, e.g., magnetic or electrostatic protection, these are dealt with by other standards.
This standard does not cover certification testing of packaging for the supply or carriage of dangerous goods.
Testing to NATO Levels (STANAG 4280) is covered by STANAG 4340 and related Allied Engineering Practice Publications (AEPP-3). It notes many of the differences to this standard in UK reservations, and is not covered by this standard.
