This standard specifies requirements for the packaging of; gaskets, seals, 'O' rings, grommets and similar materiel, to Military Packaging Levels; P, N and J. 

This standard is based on Primary Packaging Quantities (PPQ) that are single, multiple, kits or sets. 

This standard does not cover the packaging of articles used in Oxygen Equipment. 

Items that meet this scope but deviate from or are not packaged according to this standard but have been accorded a Military Level of Packaging shall require a SPIS Design to Def Stan 81-41 (Part 4).
