This standard specifies requirements for packaging of robust, transformers and inductors, to Military Levels P, N and J.

This standard covers transformers and inductors with a minimum fragility factor of 100 gn, maximum mass of 36 kg and a Primary Package Quantity (PPQ) of one. When the contract or order specifies a PPQ greater than one, a Services Packaging Instruction Sheet (SPIS) design shall be produced and shall follow the principles of this Standard.

The following types of transformers and inductors are covered by this Standard:

(a) Type C Hermetically sealed in a metal casing filled with insulating oil (see Fig 1).

(b) Type D Open (see Fig 2).

(c) Type E Potted, other than Type F (see Fig 3).

(d) Type F Resin cast (see Fig 4).

(e) Axial or radial wire terminations (see Fig 5).

This standard does not cover the packaging of items identified as electrostatic discharge sensitive devices.
