This Standard specifies requirements for a fully bleached paper, available in two thicknesses, for use in ammunition components. It is intended for use with explosives which contain ingredients (eg nitrophenolics) that may form highly sensitive lead compounds.
The designation ‘Type QX’ indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement.
However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from Defence Evaluation Research Agency, WX4 QA Technical Support, Building A22, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent TN14 7BP.
