This standard specifies requirements for one grade of lubricating and corrosion preventive oil, primarily for use in the lubrication and preservation of small arms, weapons to 30 mm calibre, and mortars to 81 mm, over the ambient temperature range of minus 54°C to 50 0c. OX-24 may also be used in other applications, subject to the prior agreement of the relevant Service/Design Authority.
