This standard specifies requirements for one grade of grease, sea water resisting primarily for the lubrication and protection against corrosion of mechanisms submerged in sea water or subject to sea wave action. It is suitable as a general purpose grease for plain bearings and for applications where the grease is subject to pressure under static conditions. The grease is also intended for the lubrication of certain naval gun mountings, weapons equipment, torpedo tube fittings, bulkhead glands, Cooper roller bearings and rudder bearings, operated over the ambient temperature range of minus 20°C to 60°C.
