This Defence Standard (Def Stan) specifies requirements for two grades of lubricating oil, gear, compounded.

OC-300 for use in Naval torpedoes and certain Naval worm reduction gears operated over the product temperature range above minus 20°C.

OC-600 for use in vehicle transmissions, general gear applications and chassis lubrication operated over the product temperature range above 0°C.

NOTE: These lubricants are not suitable for use with hypoid gears, in automatic transmissions or torque converter drives.
