This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for two grades of synthetic wax for use in the following applications:
Grade 1 - as an ingredient in explosive compositions.
Grade 2 - as an ingredient in lutings and sealing compositions.
The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Energetic Materials and Terminal Effects Department, Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
