This standard specifies the chemical composition, heat treatment, mechanical properties, testing and identification requirements for Aluminium Alloy (7019) for use in non-armour structural applications. The alloy is available in the solution treated and aged condition in the form of extruded bar and sections, sheet, plate, forgings and drawn tube.

Users of this material should be aware of the need to exercise caution when fabricating the material by bending (ANNEX I of this standard), and for minimising the susceptibility of both the material and the fabricated structure to stress corrosion cracking (ANNEX E and F of this standard, and Defence Standard (Def Stan) 08-039).
