The methods and requirements that this publication describes focus specifically on the use of a standard desktop publishing system to produce APs. The supplement guides for user on:
a. Preparing text on word processing systems with embedded, Ventura-defined commands.
b. Controlling the process of developing final reproduction copy according to a consistent format standard.
c. Preparing and managing text and graphic files.
d. Standardizing the use of Ventura style sheets and tag names.
e. Establishing specific requirements for end products and deliverables in terms of applicable media.
PURPOSE
This publication provides for standardization and economy of effort in the development of review drafts and final reproduction of APs prepared by NATO custodians and user nations and commands. The guidance contained herein is designed to:
a. Provide a standard structure/format for presenting information which significantly aids users of the material.
b. Minimize effort required by production sites in producing camera-ready copy by providing:
A centralized library of developed style sheets, tags, macros, and graphics which will handle nearly all required formatting/page layout needs.
A mechanism for sharing formatted text and graphics between production sites.
c. Provide for sharing formatted text and graphics between production sites.
d. Allow for exchange of camera-ready copy between custodians on electronic media for print on demand (Adobe compatible postscript files).
