Introduction
Participating nations agree to the following statements for the purpose of this agreement:
1. MGID will be integrated into a new common NATO Geospatial Information Framework (NGIF) resulting from operational requirements and requirements from NATO Command Structure.
a. This new infrastructure will consist of data models, symbolisation and guidance documents necessary to cover the current Military Geographic Information and Documentation (MGID) STANAGs.
b. The transition from MGID to the new infrastructure is anticipated to be gradual and will be staged in an immediate, short, mid and long term schedule.
c. The content of the MGID STANAGS have been analysed for relevance and current use.
(1) Elements that are still in use have been amended to the information model of NGIF (STANAG 2592 / AGeoP-11).
(2) The requirement process for future MGID elements are in preparation under the Geospatial Information Requirements Team (GIRT). The GIR - Team supports, through the NGIF Management Team (NMT), the Joint Geospatial Standards Working Group (JGSWG) in the successful delivery of NATO geospatial information requirements to support the NGIF.
