1.0 SCOPE
This specification is in three parts: Part 1 -Chemical composition of International Standard Steels Part 2 -International System of Steel Classification Part 3 -International Heat Treated Steels Classification System This part of the specification defines a system of classifying steels for heat treated applications by carbon content and hardenability. It can be used for quenched and tempered and carburized and hardened applications. This system should be used on engineering drawings throughout the Corporation wherever practicable.
